Westlife live at The O2 Arena – Farewell Tour – 23 May 2012

The music starts…   A backdrop spans the stage with “Westlife” emblazoned on it…  And then all of a sudden four humanoid figures on stage burst into flames… It’s the boys, rather than break up the band they’ve done something more drastic, surely not…!   No, the flames extinguish, the curtain rises, and we see Shane, Mark, Nicky and Kian stand before us holding burning torches which must symbolise the band’s final farewell is of their own doing.  The foursome then launch into their set..  Lads, we’ll miss yah…

Anyway, it was a lot of fun doing a pop show instead of my usual indie rock band fare. And it was nice to be shooting from the pit instead of tha back of the O2 like I did for Jay-Z and Kanye West the other night at Watch the Throne.
